Obituary of Emma Sue Norris Shepard

Funeral services for Mrs. Emma Sue Norris Shepard will be held Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. at the Oak Ridge United Methodist Church in Oak Ridge. Officiating will be Rev. Judith Bazer. Interment will follow at the Oak Ridge Baptist Cemetery under the direction of Golden Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at the Oak Ridge United Methodist Church from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.
Emma Sue was born November 7, 1913 and passed away February 9, 2010 after a brief illness. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry Jesse and Gladys Hope Norris and her husband, C.E. "Buck" Shepard.
She is survived by her older sister, Virginia Norris Barham, a beloved brother-in-law, G.L. "Bud" Shepard, a daughter, Virginia Sue Shepard Barr, and a son, Clint Edwin Shepard II and his wife Saundra, all of Oak Ridge. Also her grandchildren, Jesse Shepard Barr and wife Margaret, Daniel Clay Barr and wife Kim, Virginia Hope Barr Robertson and husband Dan, all of Monroe, Claire Elizabeth Shepard of Decatur, Georgia, and Scott Fitzgerald Shepard and wife Marlo of Oak Ridge. Her great grandchildren, Emma Allyne Barr, Camille Joy Barr, Haynes Shepard Barr, Jacob Clayton Barr, John Barron Barr, Lelia Hope Robertson, Rebecca Ruth Robertson, Dan Sawyer Robertson, and Carter Elam Shepard. Also many nieces and nephews.
Emma Sue attended Oak Ridge High School and Kidd Key College in Sherman, Texas. She was active in all community affairs including the PTA and was a charter member of the Pierian Club. She served as treasurer of the church for many years and president of the Women's Missionary Society.
Many thanks and gratitude go to her care-givers, Shirley Reese, Dorothy Garrett, Rosie Patterson, Betty Givens, and Carolyn Files.
Pallbearers will be E.H. "Gene" Allen, Neil Woodard Mott III, and nephews, Dr. John Clinton Shepard, George Matthew Shepard, Lewis Luke Shepard, and Mark Powell Shepard.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Oak Ridge United Methodist Church.
