Graveside funeral services for Mr. George Ellis Steele are scheduled for Friday, February 18, 2022 at 11 a.m. in Memorial Park Cemetery with Bro. Tim Post officiating. Mr. Steele, an auto body repairman, went to be with his Lord and Savior on February 14, 2022, at the age of eighty-five. He was born in West Point, MS to the late Bessie McDougal Steele and Ellis “Bob” Steele on December 5, 1936. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He worked for Casey Marus Body shop for thirty years and loved working on cars not only for a living but also in his spare time. He was well known for being able to “fix anything but a broken heart”. He enjoyed being outdoors and working in his shop “piddling” on things, doing any kind of yard work and spending time with his great-grandchildren. He was a member of Oak Hill Baptist Church since 1982 when he gave his life to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He is survived by his daughters, Susie Knight and husband Tony, Leigh Lambert and husband Stephen; son, Michael Steele and fiancé, Lindsey Thornton; grandsons, Michael Knight, Jeremy Knight and wife Chelsey and Christopher Chowns; great-grandchildren, Mickayla Knight, A.J. Knight and Maverick Knight; sisters, Peggy Nolan and Kathryn Carter and husband Shelby; brother, Jim Steele and wife Carla and a host of nieces, nephews and friends and his best buddy, “Cambo”. He is preceded in death by his wife of sixty years, Shirley Edwards Steele; mother, Bessie Steele Seymore; father, Ellis “Bob” Steele and sister, Dot Stephenson. Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Knight, Jeremy Knight, Christopher Chowns, Casey Marus Sr and Casey Marus Jr. The children of Mr. Steele would like to extend a very special thank you to his son-in-law, Stephen Lambert, for taking such wonderful care of their father 24/7 in the past several months of his life, along with Dr. Daniel Trejo, Lisa Hartmann, Mary Ellen Kennedy and the staff at TruCare Home Health and Robert Younger and the entire staff at Premier Hospice for all of their help and compassion they showed him during his illness.
