Obituary of Nathaniel "Bubba" Church

Funeral services for Mr. Nathaniel “Bubba” Church, age 33, are scheduled for 3 p.m. Friday, November 11, 2022 at the chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Bro. Mike Loveday and Bro. Shelton Morgan officiating. Interment will follow in Carter Cemetery under the direction of Golden Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 1:30 p.m. until service time Friday. With the loss of Bubba, come tears and the hard reality…life is messy. No family is perfect. We all try to hide or disguise our imperfections and minimize our mistakes. However, today, Bubba’s family would like to speak the truth about his death. Silence would mean Bubba’s death was in vain, but if one person’s life is saved by his story, we would tell it a million more times. Speaking the truths (no matter the circumstances) surrounding the epidemic of drug use may be the difference between life and death for someone. In honor of Bubba’s life, we ask that truth be spread in regards to this epidemic and awareness be raised. Addiction didn’t love Bubba, it controlled him; owned him. It skewed his reality and numbed his heart. It mocked his every attempt to be free, reeling him in like a fish. We now cling to the promise of hope found only in Jesus Christ and His peace that passes all understanding. Though our hearts are heavy and mourn our loss, we choose to celebrate Bubba’s freedom in the arms of a compassionate God. Bubba is survived by his mother, Rhonda Church; sons, Carter Gregory and Micah Alexander Church; grandparents, Hazel Carter, Carl and Jo Ann Church; girlfriend, Mandy Cater and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Greg Church; brother, Michael Darrell Church; mother of his children, Cheyanne McClendon; and grandfather, Floyd Carter, Sr. Serving as pallbearers are: Clifton Rainwater, John Carter, Jr., Joe Rainwater, Jr., Daniel Carter, Preston Church and Josh Lebrun.
