Obituary of Bennie Ruth Hall

Funeral services for Bennie Ruth Hall are scheduled for 2 PM Friday, December 15, 2023, in the chapel of Golden Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Christ Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday, prior to the service, beginning at 1 PM. Bennie was born on March 17, 1936, and passed away December 11, 2023, at the age of eighty-seven. She graduated from Bastrop High School, and then attended Northeast State College for one year. Bennie worked at the Morehouse Parish Tax Assessor’s Office from 1954 to 1993, and was a deputy tax assessor many of those years. She was a member of First Church of God in Bastrop where she was very active. For many years, she served as a member of the choir, a hospitality chairperson, and often played the piano. Bennie loved history and was great at working crossword puzzles. She was an avid reader, worked beautiful counted cross-stitch, crewel embroidery and needlepoint. Bennie sewed beautiful clothing for herself, and kept a beautiful yard where she grew lots of flowers. She is survived by her brother, Jerry O. Hall of Colorado Springs, CO; sisters, Mary Beth Hall Adams, and husband Wayne of Dallas, TX, Elaine Hall Taylor, and husband Gary of Shawnee, OK, and Marlene Hall Willis, and husband James “Jim” of Montgomery, TX; fourteen nieces and nephews; and many great and great-great nieces and nephews. Bennie is preceded in death by her parents, J.C. and Ruth Hall; sister, Ally Nell Hall; and two brothers, James Arther “Jimmy” Hall and Kenneth Wayne Hall.
