Obituary of Elizabeth Ann Elkins

Funeral services for Elizabeth “Bokie” Elkins are scheduled for 2 PM Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at Mount Union Baptist Church with Bro. Marty Black and Bro. Marcell McGee officiating. A time of visitation will be held Tuesday from 12 noon until 2 PM service time at the church. Services will be under the direction of Golden Funeral Home of Bastrop. Mrs. Elkins, a homemaker, passed away Sunday, March 24, 2024, at the age of eighty-nine. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Mrs. Elkins was a member of Mount Union Baptist Church, where she served as pianist for over fifty years. She also was a member of the Women’s Missionary Union, where she served as president. She worked in the church nursery, Vacation Bible School, helped with the youth, and, as a great cook, served many meals. She was also a very talented seamstress. Mrs. Elkins participated in three mission trips to South Louisiana, and also served as a yellow hat as part of the Rolling Hills Disaster Relief Ministry and participated in two trips to New York City after 9-11. She is survived by her husband of seventy-one years, Bobby Elkins; daughter, Carol Ann Chrisman and husband, David; sons, Bobby Stephen Elkins and wife, Melanie, and Ricky Dale Elkins and wife, Robin; sister, Bette Theis and husband, Art; six grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Mrs. Elkins is preceded in death by her parents, Harmon and Eva Rogers Smith; siblings, George Harmon Smith, Rudolph Smith, Lavon Smith, Kenneth Smith, and Nell Rambin; and granddaughter, Paige Elkins. Serving the pallbearers will be Brian Elkins, Mike Holley, Colby Rushing, Zachary Chrisman, Jace Cranford, and Caleb Elkins, and Cody Elkins.
