Obituary of Barbara Ann Smith

Funeral services for Barbara Ann Smith are scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday, January 24, 2025 in the chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Bro. Phillip McCready and Bro. Britt Dupree officiating. Interment will follow in Pine Grove South Cemetery under the direction of Golden Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 12 p.m. until 1 p.m. Friday at Goldens.
Mrs. Smith a retired banker at Bastrop National Bank and member of Central Missionary Baptist Church, passed away Monday, January 20, 2025 at the age of ninety. She was very active in her church and once completed a seven year bible study having attended classes each week. She was known as an excellent seamstress having made many costumes for her children, grandchildren and even a horse. She also enjoyed flower gardening and bowling in a local bowling league when she was younger.
Mrs. Smith is survived by her daughters, Jan Gentry, Jo Daugherty and husband, Jerry, Leslie Jones and husband, Roger; grandchildren, Jessica Wood and husband, Butch, Jonathan Gentry and wife, Elizabeth, Colby Daugherty and wife, Stacy, Lindsey Costello and husband, Clay, Caleb Daugherty and wife, Victoria, Corey Williamson, Josh Williamson, Connor Jones, Ali Byrnside and husband, Nathan, Jaisley Green, John Russell Green and numerous great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles “Tommy” Smith; son, Russell Edward Green; father, John R. Rials; mother, Lois Taylor Rials Davis; step-father, Red Davis; four siblings, Diane Davis Thomas, Patsy White, John Rials and Betty Sue Charles and father of her children, Paul Edward Green.
Serving as pallbearers are her grandchildren, Colby Daugherty, Jonathan Gentry, Corey Williamson, Caleb Daugherty, Josh Williamson and Connor Jones.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to all of the nurses and staff of the Garden of Somerset and Elara Caring for their loving care and service to Mrs. Smith.
